HERE’S WHY AHIFLOWER
is the perfect alternative to fish oil!
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential dietary fats that are associated with numerous health benefits, such as supporting your healthy heart, brain, eyes, skin, bones, joints and immune function. However, since your body can't produce these healthy fats on its own, you need to acquire omega-3 fatty acids through the food you eat. While you can consume fish oils or krill oils to boost your daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids, these are often sourced from fish that have been mass farmed using unsustainable fishing practices or contaminated with mercury or microplastics. Fortunately, ahiflower oil boasts an unmatched nutritional profile and is the perfect plant-based alternative to fish oil.
The Health Ranger Store is thrilled to offer a high-quality, lab-verified source of omega-fatty acids with Chief Originals® Ahiflower Oil Softgels. Not only are they an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, our premium ahiflower oil softgels contain a unique, well-balanced combination of omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids that support overall health and well-being – all without any of the downsides of fish oil, such as possible mercury contamination.
Chief Originals® Ahiflower Oil Softgels are sourced from the seed oil of healthy Buglossoides arvensis plants, which are sustainably grown by farmers in the U.K. who follow the strict Crop Assured 365® supply-chain requirements to ensure outstanding crop safety, quality and potency. They are also non-GMO, plant-based and extensively lab tested for glyphosate, heavy metals and microbiology.

What is ahiflower oil?**
Ahiflower oil is derived from the seeds of the Buglossoides arvensis herb, which is a hedgerow plant in the Boraginaceae family. Once considered a weed in Europe and several countries in Asia, this herb is now grown sustainably as an agricultural crop valued for its remarkable oil and nutritional content.
The ahiflower plant gets its name from its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which is comparable to the oils from fatty fish, such as the ahi tuna. In fact, it is considered to be the richest non-fish source of omega fatty acids on the planet. Two of the most important and common types of omega-3 fatty acids are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). While these fatty acids are more commonly found in fish sources, ahiflower oil contains stearidonic acid (SDA), which is also more readily and more efficiently converted into DHA and EPA than oils sourced from plants such as flax, chia, hemp, perilla, sancha inchi and echium.
Ahiflower oil’s true edge over other plant-based oils, however, is its impressive, uniquely balanced combination of essential omega fatty acids. Aside from omega-3 fatty acids, ahiflower oil also contains the omega-6 fatty acid, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and the omega-9 fatty acid, oleic acid (OA). This means that when you take ahiflower oil supplements, such as Chief Originals® Ahiflower Oil Softgels, you get the optimal amount of omega fatty acids necessary to sustain your body’s overall health and wellness.
Ahiflower oil contains a well-balanced combination of omega-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids**
Omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids are all important dietary fats, with each one having a number of health benefits for your body. You can boost your intake of these healthy fats by consuming plenty of omega-rich superfoods, such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, herring and other fatty fish. However, unlike these other natural sources, only ahiflower oil can provide the mentioned fatty acids in suitable proportions, such as 2:1:1 for omega-3:6:9. Additionally, ahiflower oil has a higher omega-3-6-9 fatty acid content than other seed oils, such as hemp, chia, flax or evening primrose seed oils.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential polyunsaturated fats that are an integral part of human cell membranes. Omega-3s offer a diverse range of benefits, including supporting healthy heart, brain, eye, bone, nervous and immune functions, as well as supporting your reasonable weight management plans. Other plant-based oils, such as flax, chia, and hemp seed oils, only contain the omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). However, not only does ahiflower oil contain ALA, but it also has the highest SDA content of any plant-based source. ALA, DHA, EPA, and SDA are four important forms of omega-3. Your body can convert a small percentage of ALA into DHA and EPA, but it can convert SDA into these same forms of omega-3s with much greater efficiency.
Omega-6 fatty acids are known to support healthy energy production and optimal cardiovascular and immune health. Just like omega-3s, these polyunsaturated fats are considered "essential" and must be acquired from the food you eat. A balance between omega-3s and omega-6s is crucial for overall health. Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and linolenic acid (LA) are two types of omega-6 fatty acids that can be found in ahiflower oil.
Omega-9 fatty acids are monounsaturated fats. They are technically not essential because they can be produced by the body. However, research indicates that increasing your daily omega-9 intake can support your healthy metabolism and help maintain healthy cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range. Ahiflower oil contains the omega-9 fatty acid, oleic acid (OA).
According to medical experts, it is important to strike the right balance when it comes to the levels of omega-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids in one’s diet, as an imbalance may cause more harm than good for your body. Ahiflower oil naturally contains the richest, most complete, abundant and balanced omega fatty acid profile available among any plant-based source.
Why is ahiflower oil the perfect alternative to fish oil?**
While fish oil remains the world’s biggest source of omega fatty acids, it does pose several disadvantages and risks for its consumers, such as the following:
Fish oil supplements put consumers at risk for mercury contamination – Mercury is a toxic heavy metal that can damage your organs and neurological system. While relatively rare in the earth’s crust, the world’s oceans and other bodies of water contain traces of this toxin, which can then accumulate inside the bodies of fish in a process called biomagnification or bioamplification. Because of this, many omega-3 supplements derived from fish may be contaminated with levels of mercury that may be toxic to consume.
Fish oil supplements are notorious for improper preservation – Due to oxidation, many fish oil-based supplements are prone to breaking down more quickly than plant-based omega supplements, especially when they are not properly preserved.
Fish oil supplements do not have a complete ratio of omega fatty acids – According to medical experts, obtaining all the fatty acids that your body needs is necessary for overall health. But doing so can be difficult since most supplements on the market offer just one or two types of omegas at a time. Furthermore, several studies have shown that in order to get the most out of these good fats, you need to consume all of them together in a properly balanced ratio.
Production of fish oil supplements promotes the use of unsustainable and untraceable sources – While there are claims that fish-derived omega-3s help preserve marine species, this is often just marketing hype. In fact, according to several studies, farming fish for supplements actually depletes both the supply and diversity of fish. In addition, this highly unsustainable practice also contributes to the spread of invasive species that not only compete with native fishes for resources but also consume native fishes themselves.
Ahiflower oil, such as Chief Originals®Ahiflower Oil Softgels, has absolutely none of these potential risks or disadvantages. Instead, it delivers the ideal balance of omega-3, -6, and -9 fatty acids in a safe, healthy, sustainable and convenient form.
What can omega-rich ahiflower oil do for you?**
The abundance of dietary fats in ahiflower oil allows it to offer a number of important health benefits:
SUPPORTS HEALTHY COGNITIVE PERFORMANCE AND MENTAL
According to a study that appeared in the journal Integrative Medicine, ahiflower oil is one of the most balanced natural sources of GLA and SDA – both of which can help support a healthy brain and nervous system.
SUPPORTS HEALTHY BONES AND JOINTS
Ahiflower oil contains high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids that support the growth of strong and healthy bones. In addition, it also contains the omega-6 fatty acids GLA and SDA, which help maintain healthy joints and mobility.
NATURALLY ELEVATES YOUR MOOD
According to a study that was published in the British Journal of Psychiatry, the regular consumption of omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA – both of which are present in ahiflower oil – can support a positive mood.
SUPPORTS HEALTHY CARDIOVASCULAR FUNCTION
Ahiflower oil is packed with heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, such as SDA and ALA. Your body can efficiently metabolize the SDA in ahiflower into DHA and EPA, which supports healthy cardiovascular function. Ahiflower oil also contains omega-9 fatty acids that can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels already within the normal range.
SUPPORTS THE GROWTH OF HEALTHY SKIN
According to a study that was published in the journal Integrative Medicine, the omega-3 fatty acids in ahiflower oil can help keep your skin supple and moisturized. This is because your body needs omega-3 fatty acids to maintain the optimal hydration and integrity of the skin’s outer layer.
SUPPORTS HEALTHY IMMUNE FUNCTION
Separate studies from the journal Nutrients and the Journal of Leukocyte Biology suggest that fatty acids such as DHA and EPA support the healthy function of the immune system. According to researchers, this means that the DHA and EPA in ahiflower oil can help support the body’s natural immune defenses.
SUPPORTS HEALTHY EYE FUNCTION
A 2019 meta-analysis from the journal Cornea indicated that taking omega-3 supplements can help keep your eyes moisturized and well-lubricated. Omega-3 fatty acids help maintain healthy tear film, which then protects your eyes if you’re often working on a computer.
